This is the John McEnroe Tennis Academy program for our youngest rising stars. Based on the USTA 10-and-Under Tennis training program, and featuring pros from the JMTA, this specially-designed program will give kids ages 6 to 9 the strongest foundation for 10-and-under tournament play, and for subsequently moving up to the John McEnroe Tennis Academy.
This is the John McEnroe Tennis Academy program for our intermediate players aspiring to join JMTA. It's one-and-a-half hours of tennis instruction, drills and matchplay.
School Break Camps are a great way for juniors to get that "camp" experience and atmosphere when scheduled programs are not in session. And why should the kids have all the fun? Programs Under School Break Camps at John McEnroe Tennis Academy
SPORTIME School Break Camps are a great way for children, ages 4 and older to enjoy tennis and other team sports when scheduled programs are not in session. Facilities that include multi-sport courts and/or rinks and fields offer kids the full sports experience by featuring activities such as floor hockey, soccer, basketball, baseball and more! Full-day and half-day camps are available at most SPORTIME indoor locations during school recess breaks.
SPORTIME's tennis camps offer players of all levels, an intense and fun summer camp experience. We a variety of tennis camp options that will help recreational players learn and improve their skills and help advanced players bring their games to the next level.

SPORTIME's EXCEL Tennis Camp provides players of every level a premier tennis program featuring stroke production, competitive games, and tactical training for match play. We prepare players for the physical and mental demands of competitive play with the use of innovative fitness training techniques and by developing their positive self-esteem and focus. Our program is dedicated to turning weaknesses into strengths, and strengths into a winning game.
QuickStart Tennis is an exciting new format for learning tennis where the kids get to "play" in their very first lesson. Modeled after the most successful developmental programs in Europe, QuickStart Tennis utilizes balloons, beach balls, low-compression tennis balls, colorful Pee Wee nets and shorter court dimensions, all tailored to age and size, to provide the optimal learning environment.
The EXCEL Summer Tennis Camp program, staffed by world class pros from the John McEnroe Tennis Academy, is a uniquely challenging summer training program. This program is for tournament players who are serious about their tennis and serious about improving, and for players who aspire to take that next step. We believe that attitude, intensity and commitment are key elements to developing a complete tennis player.

Robert Kendrick is now the Director of Tennis at SPORTIME Syosset and Co-Director of the John McEnroe Tennis Academy Annex at SPORTIME Bethpage. Robert joins SPORTIME after a long and successful career on the ATP Tour. Robert was an All-American at both the University of Washington and Pepperdine University, where he was ranked as high as #3 in the nation. As a pro, he was ranked as high as #69 in the world in singles (taking Rafael Nadal to 5 sets at Wimbledon in 2006) and #77 in doubles.
Since 2002, Robert has been Johnny Mac's teammate on SPORTIME's World TeamTennis NY Sportimes team. He and Mac will be leading the Sportimes as we attempt to win our second WTT championship at the WTT finals in Charleston in September 2012.
Robert will be training and supervising all SPORTIME Syosset Tennis pros and coaches, he will be a driving force at the new John McEnroe Tennis Academy Annex at SPORTIME Bethpage,and he will be working with players of all ages and abilities. Robert brings amazing energy and dedication to the court, whether working with seniors, beginners, or with our nation's top junior prospects.

John McEnroe Founder and Director, JMTA
John McEnroe is one of the greatest tennis players of all time. He held the #1 world ranking in singles for 170 weeks between 1980 and 1985, and was the #1 doubles player in the world for a record 257 weeks. He is the winner of 7 Grand Slam singles titles, including 4 US Open titles and 3 Wimbledon titles. He is also widely considered to be the greatest doubles player ever, having won 10 Grand Slam doubles titles and winning his last ATP doubles title just three years ago after a 12 year absence from the ATP Tour. He is the greatest Davis Cup player in history, and he also captained the US Davis Cup Team. John has been the captain of Sportime's World TeamTennis franchise, the NY Sportimes, since 2000, and he is an Emmy-nominated commentator for CBS, NBC, BBC, ESPN and USA. John grew up in New York City, where he graduated from the Trinity School, and later attended Stanford University, winning an NCAA team and singles title his freshman year. He continues to live in New York City, where he has raised his 6 children.
A native New Yorker, Lawrence is recognized as one of the top developmental coaches in the US. He has trained more ranked juniors than anyone in the history of the USTA/Eastern Section. Lawrence is also the personal coach of Noah Rubin, who trains at the John McEnroe Tennis Academy and who has been Lawrence's student since the age of 7. Noah is a top American tennis prospect reaching a career-best #14 ITF junior world ranking for boys 18 and under, #1 in U.S. Boys16 and under standings, and reaching the quarter finals of the 2012 Junior French Open. His students have won numerous National and regional Championships and 18 USTA Eastern Year-End Sportsmanship Awards. He is the Director of Tennis of the John McEnroe Tennis Academy, overseeing it at its locations at Sportime Randall's Island in Manhattan, Sportime Bethpage Tennis on Long Island and Sportime Lake Isle in Westchester.
Mike is one of the nation’s brightest young stars in junior coaching. After being recruited by Sportime’s Regional Manager, Jay Harris, to join the Bowling Green State University squad, he led his team to two Mid-American Conference Championships, and became the most successful player in the history of the program. Mike was one of the top ranked juniors in the country prior to his college career, and has competed and coached extensively in ITF tournaments around the world. After graduating, Mike quickly became one of the top coaches in east, developing numerous nationally ranked players, while earning a Master’s Degree in Education. His exceptional knowledge of the game, his boundless energy, and his positive attitude instill confidence in every player in his impressive stable of nationally ranked juniors.
Robert joined Sportime in the fall of 2012 after a decade as a successful singles and doubles player on the ATP Tour. Robert brings his energy and people skills to the court with players of all levels, including the nation’s top junior prospects, our future junior stars, and our driven adult players.
Jay was the Head Men’s Coach at Brown University for eight years prior to moving to New York in 2010. He left Brown as the most successful coach in the 100-plus year history of that program, having led the team to its highest national ranking ever (#33), to two straight Ivy League Titles, and to seven consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. In 2005, Harris was named the Northeast Region coach of the Year and was a finalist for the National Coach of the Year Award. Jay coached five singles players and 15 different doubles teams to national collegiate rankings, including one All-American team. One of his players recently advanced to his second consecutive Wimbledon quarter-final, having been ranked in the top 50 on the ATP Tour. Before Brown, Harris coached at Bowling Green State University, where one of his players was Sportime’s own Regional Director of Tennis, Mike Kossoff. At Bowling Green, Harris was named the 2002 Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year after leading his squad to MAC Titles in 2000 and 2002. A former successful collegiate player at the University of Cincinnati, Jay moved to Miami University where he was an assistant women’s tennis coach while earning his Masters Degree in 1996 with a concentration in Sports Psychology. In addition to coaching many of the nation’s top tennis players, Jay has also worked with many athletes as a Peak Performance Consultant to enhance psychological skills such as visual imagery, anxiety regulation, self-talk and goal setting.
Perry played at Syracuse University and is originally from Australia. He is one of the longest standing Sportime Master Professionals and has coached numerous players from a developmental level through top national, collegiate, and professional levels. Perry has extensive experience as an analyst and planner for USTA junior competitive systems, and is a graduate of USTA High Performance Coaching. Perry’s skills are expansive. In addition to his prowess as a tennis instructor, Perry is also certified in IYCA Speed and Agility training mechanisms, and is Sportime's lead expert in Dartfish technology. Perry has served as a Director of Tennis and Director of Tournaments in his time at Sportime, and currently works with a stable of the most talented junior players in the Eastern Section.
Simon Childs Staff Professional
Simon who hails from the United Kingdom was a standout student athlete at the University of Louisville. He served as team captain his senior year where the team reached as high as 14 in the country. Simon was ranked a career high #6 in doubles and #49 in singles amongst all Division 1 tennis players. He has also had success on the pro tour winning multiple doubles titles such as the ATP title in Mexico. As a junior Simon was ranked #49 in the world where he competed all over the world playing in ITF events.
Strate Krstevski Staff Professional
Strate is originally from Macedonia where he was a National Champion in all age groups (12s, 14s, 16s & 18s) and represented his country in many international competitions. He was recruited to play at The University of Southern Mississippi, where he had a winning record in singles and doubles all four years. After getting a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Strate earned his PTR Coaching Certificate and became a certified teaching professional. He has recently worked in the Greenwich Racquet Club as Tennis Professional, leading and instructing their USTA Junior and Adult teams. He spent the last year back in Macedonia, where he served as the Macedonian Tennis Federation Head Coordinator for their 10 & under tennis programs, and where he also coached the top three 16 year old players in the country.
Salomon Levy Master + Professional
Salomon is originally from Columbia and also spent time living and playing in Israel. He went to college at Wingate (Israel) before arriving in the United States, and has spent the last 25 years helping players to achieve their maximum potential. Widely known as one of the top instructors in the east, Salomon has served as an Assistant Director of Tennis at two Sportime Clubs. He has been a great developer of junior talent, and is a very creative instructor.
Ben Marks Staff Professional
Ben is a British pro who recently graduated from Norfolk State University where he played #1 singles and doubles. He finished his senior year with an impressive 16-3 record and earned a #9 ranking in the Atlantic Region. Ben has over five years of coaching experience in England to go along with his competitive playing experience.
Danny is a professional tennis player and coach from Britain, who joined the Sportime staff in the fall of 2012 after recently serving as hitting partner and traveling coach to ATP Tour Professional Robert Kendrick. When off the road, Danny was an assistant director at the Winter Park Racquet Club in Orlando, Florida, where he was a high performance coach. Danny played his college tennis at the University of Tennessee at Martin, where he played #1 singles and doubles, and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2006. He went on to earn his Masters of Arts in Physical Education with a concentration in Coaching and Sports Leadership in 2009, again graduating Magna Cum Laude.
Curtis McCalla Senior Professional
Hailing from Jamaica, Curtis is an amazing coach and teaching professional and may be the best known of all of our Sportime pros because of his high energy level and fun-loving personality. Curtis has been with SPORTIME for the past 10 years and teaches with extreme passion, inspiring players of all levels from Long Island to become the best they can be.
Eric was one of the top junior players in the U.S. He is a graduate of Penn State University, where he captained the team in each of his final two years. During his playing career, he competed against top players including Justin Gimelstob, James Blake, and recent Olympic Gold Medalist, Max Mirnyi. In his teaching career, he has produced numerous Division I college players, always looking to create great players and great young men and women. No matter who he is working with, Eric uses cutting-edge techniques, as he is focused on the modern game. Eric is one of our most talented and hard-working pros.
Phillip Simmonds Master + Professional
Phillip, who was born in Selden, New York, comes to SPORTIME after having had a stellar professional and junior career. Phillip reached a high of 200 in the world ATP with multiple ITF Future and ATP Challenger titles. Phillip got a wild card into the 2006 US Open main draw and battled with the 25th seed Richard Gasquet in the first round. As a junior Phillip was the number one ranked junior in the world and member of the 2002 Junior Davis cup team that reached the finals that year. Phillip was also the 2002 Orange Bowl Champion, 2003 Australian Open Champion and semi-finalist at the French Open and Wimbledon.
Brandon Smyth Staff Professional
Brandon is a local Long Islander joining us at the John McEnroe Tennis Academy this winter. Brandon was recruited to Cornell University after having a stellar junior career in the eastern section. Brandon was one of the top juniors in the country where he achieved a top 100 ranking nationally, a top 5 ranking in the eastern section, and at one point reached the quarterfinals of Easter Bowl. Brandon joins the Sportime staff as a very talented player and coach and is going to make an immediate impact within our academy.
